That’s exactly what I discovered during a recent girlfriends’ getaway to The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla. Less than an hour from our Orange County homes, it was an effortless drive that somehow transported us into an entirely different frame of mind. The pace slowed. The ocean air worked its magic. Suddenly, work deadlines and overflowing calendars felt miles away.
From the moment we arrived, the property invited us to exhale. Breakfast lingered over coffee and fresh pastries, while dinner became an occasion all its own. The elegant yet relaxed atmosphere made it easy to savor every bite without feeling rushed.
For my part, my favorite moments weren’t the planned activities. They were the quiet ones – settling into an Adirondack chair overlooking the golf course, watching the light change across the cliffs, or gathering around one of the lodge’s outdoor fire pits after sunset. There’s something incredibly restorative about sharing simple moments with a close friend in such an inspiring setting.
As our getaway came to an end, I couldn’t help but appreciate how refreshing it felt to escape without traveling very far.
