Celebrating SoCal’s Coastal Chic Lifestyle at San Diego’s Premier Luxury Shopping Destination

It’s officially my favorite season in sunny Southern California: Lighter Later Season. Sure, I made that up, but it isn’t untrue. And the best way to spend longer days that are lighter later are on day trips to San Diego. Just an hour south of my home in San Juan Capistrano, San Diego has long been one of my personal favorite staycation and day trip destinations – renowned for its dining, beaches, luxury hotels, year-round sunshine and destination shopping.

On my list for the latter? Fashion Valley is literally the cherry on top, offering the latest styles and on-trend shopping, featuring everything from simple staples to haute couture silhouettes – perfect for a girl’s day out before indulging at one of the delectable dining destinations, a little retail therapy for a cadre of mom friends or mothers and daughters anticipating those long summer beach days. Iconic designers meet insane deals: accessories for everyday to photo-worthy special event ensembles. It’s all at Fashion Valley.

A modern, multi-million dollar resort-style makeover is currently underway which will include enhancements that draw inspiration from the coastal city’s relaxed lifestyle and stunning aesthetic (think open, inviting public spaces, enriched landscaping, tranquil outdoor lounges). But the real stars of the show here are the extensive luxury offerings with 200+ stores to satisfy every level of shopping aficionado.

One of my faves is Bloomingdales where it couldn’t be easier to cross items off the list for special occasions in one stop. Cologne for my husband’s birthday? Check. A dress for my daughter’s middle school graduation? Housewarming gift for a friend? A little treat of a lovely scented candle from Jo Malone for myself? Check. Check. Check.

Destination dining? Fashion Valley offers something for every palate from familiar favorites like California Pizza Kitchen, The Cheesecake Factory and P.F. Changs China Bistro to modern Mexican (Blanco Tacos + Tequila), handcrafted Italian (NoRTH Italia) and signature sushi and tapas-style Japanese (So Sushi).

Whether you lean toward upscale eateries or casual establishments, popular picks for the younger set like my teenage daughter (Abercrombie, American Eagle, Dr. Marten’s) or a luxury shopping experience, Fashion Valley has it all. For my part, I love perusing the latest luxe designer collections (including Burberry, Dior, Versace, Gucci, Prada, Tory Burch, Bottega Veneta, Emporio Armani and more). Showcase pieces that are timeless to trendy. Iconic and classic. Modern luxury redefined.
