Nine month old Martin is a sweet and friendly rabbit who is ready for his next big adventure.  This curious little bunny doesn’t mind being picked up or held and even enjoys lap time when he isn’t busy exploring. Martin has good litter box habits and would make a great house bunny for a loving family.         Calico was named for her pretty, spotted markings but could easily be named Sweetie for her mellow personality.  Her favorite activity is sunbathing and she is an avid birdwatcher.  Six years old and fully declawed, Calico would be very well…
Performances: February 21 - March 25, 2018 under the white-and-gold Big Top at the OC Fair & Event Center A WAKING DREAM OF MEXICO LUZIA takes you to an imaginary Mexico, like in a waking dream, where light (“luz” in Spanish) quenches the spirit and rain (“lluvia”) soothes the soul. Through a series of grand visual surprises and breathtaking acrobatic performances, LUZIA invites audiences to escape on a surrealistic journey through a sumptuous and vibrant world suspended somewhere between dreams and reality. Smoothly passing from an old movie set to the ocean to a smoky dance hall or an arid…
How can one word bring back such memories? Sometimes it was just a first name of a person, and with other songs it was a term that described in so much detail what we felt. Connie Francis called out to “Teddy,” and proclaimed we were “Together,” while Sue Thompson saluted, “Norman.” But it was the guys who crooned and pinned for their ladies. In the majority of songs of the 50’s and early 60’s, women were revered, placed on that exalted pedestal and idolized. Doo Wop was to have its own anthem with multiple versions of “Gloria.” This song was…
February is national Heart Health Awareness month and at Align we are excited to participate. According to the American Hearth Association, someone dies from heart disease, stroke or another type of cardiovascular disease every 43 seconds in this country! Making heart disease the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. But the good news is, it’s one of the most preventable diseases. With a nutrient dense diet, exercise, and meditation a healthy heart is easy to achieve. Heart Disease is actually a generic term for variety of issues that take place within the Cardiovascular…
When you think about a company having ‘investment experience,’ what image does that conjure up? Stodgy bankers wearing suits with mountains of paperwork? Or a streamlined company full of seasoned professionals ready to take care of your assets? The team at American Mortgage Fund (AMF) is breaking the mold and putting it all back together in an entirely new fashion. With more than forty years of combined lending, finance and real estate acquisitions experience, the AMF team is quickly building their reputation as one of the best asset-backed funding groups in the business. If you’re new to the area of…
If you like wine, you’re my kind of person. If you like wine and you’ve seen the 2008 flick Bottle Shock, we’re well on our way to becoming best friends. Though the film certainly took artistic license in its explanation of the famed Paris Wine Tasting of 1976, the feat remains the same in history regardless. A vintage made in California became a winning symbol to the world of the premier scene that would emerge from the States’ golden coast shortly thereafter: wine. Since the seventies, the Napa region has undergone a remarkable transformation. From scrappy hippie to simply luxurious,…
In a recent conversation with my mother, I discovered something. Something that was a cause for pause as I pondered all the possible ramifications. This thing I realized? My mother appears a bit more stubborn than she used to be. She laughed when I called it to her attention, but the more we thought about the fact that she was growing increasingly stubborn, it occurred to both of us that this trait could prove to be increasingly problematic as she got older. She shared that she had always imagined herself to be a strong elder - a grey haired grandmother…
My sister was hit by a snowboarder when she was sixteen. On skis, just a couple of turns from the bottom of the hill - in plain sight of a SLOW sign. The snowboarder was young; not as young as my sister, but still, a young man. My parents, long-time skiers, contacted him directly, trying to see if they could get any results at all: any reparations for their high-school sophomore, laid up on the couch for innumerable weeks. There was nothing they could do. I remember feeling helpless as a child, watching the entire drama unfold. I can’t imagine…

It’s no surprise why Wig-Wag Dog Grooming is a favorite of San Juan Capistrano residents. Is it because groomer and owner Liana Brown and her team make absolutely sure that your dog is the only star of the show while its being groomed? Perhaps. Is it because Wig-Wag offers a variety of types and techniques that many other groomers do not? Very likely. “We offer Japanese grooming styles, which is so much fun for us, the pet, and the owner!” says Liana. “Japanese grooming styles focuses on the cute-factor of the dog, so we can get pretty creative. It’s a…
When we moved into our home three years ago, the property came with a very pretty pond stocked with colorful koi and goldfish. But for someone who can barely keep a potted plant alive, the prospect of being responsible for the livelihood and longevity of these beautiful fish was daunting – I don’t have a clue about the right ratio of additives in the water or the importance of algae or how to combat fish disease.   A koi pond is clearly much more than a backyard water garden feature. It is a living, breathing eco-system which requires the expertise…
The term “fast-casual” was apparently coined by Paul Barron in the late 1990’s. The creator of FastCasual.com, Mr. Barron’s claim to the phrase has been disputed, but the terminology certainly stuck. Restaurants have popped up all over the nation in the last twenty years that set claim to the phrase, and serve up a similar experience: moderately priced meals, self-service or limited service format, and made-to-order food with more flavors than your neighborhood McDonald’s or Taco Bell. With 33 stores in Colorado (and 3 under construction), six stores in Phoenix, three in Dallas/Ft. Worth and now three in California (Laguna…
Perfectly situated between the hustle of Los Angeles and the bustle of San Diego, the historic Los Rios District lies just off the I-5 freeway in San Juan Capistrano. Originally settled by Juanenos Indians allowed to live outside the mission compound, this idyllic town has grown over the years, but still retains its old town charm. Some of the original homes built still house relatives of the early settlers, generations later. A surprise gem for tourists and locals alike, Los Rios is no stranger to its own delights - including an immensely popular tea salon and boutique. Founded by the…

Sunday, March 4, 2018 in Samueli Theater Segerstrom Center for the Arts welcomes the Center debut performance of the acclaimed Ebène Quartet on March 4, 2018 at 2:00pm. Since coming to international attention after winning first prize at the ARD Music Competition in 2004, the Ebène Quartet has been thrilling audiences and critics with their superb renditions of classical favorites and arrangements of popular and jazz works. What began as a distraction in university practice rooms has resulted in one of today’s most praised classical ensembles, renowned for its unique style and fresh approach to the chamber repertoire. The Ebène…
At elementary schools all over California, fourth graders have been making missions from craft supplies for years. My son constructed Mission San Diego Alcala (the first of 21 established in the state) last year, which made our visit all the more exciting and impactful. The city’s first downtown area and the true birthplace of California, San Diego is now famous for its pristine stretches of sandy shore and hip shopping and bar crawls through Pacific Beach. But once upon a time, San Diego was known for the historic sites, cultural lore, and the nearby Mission San Diego de Alcala. The…
According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, Scoliosis affects nearly six million people in the U.S. alone. Making it the most common spinal deformity in our society. Scoliosis is a generic term that refers to any imbalanced curvature in the spine due to a genetic predisposition, or habitual muscle patterning. Either way, exercising has shown to be extremely beneficial in addressing issues associated with Scoliosis. Especially, exercise modalities known to emphasis core strength like Pilates and yoga. Scoliosis in its simplest terms is a problem of asymmetry. Ideally the right and left sides of the body should be balanced…
There is a marked difference between a capable contractor, and the near-comical profile of an incapable one. Akin to the often long-winded and dry jokes about terrible lawyers, the myriad tales on home-improvement horror populate many a family’s dinner time storytelling. Tipping the scales in favor of customer service you remember in rosy hues is a feat. One that GM Pacific Remodeling has been leaning on for the past 16 years: building their remarkable reputation from the ground up. Gil Moscovich grew up in the business. “My father was a framing foundation specialist, and my mom was a plans drawer…
